Common misconception
Pupils struggle to identify how many intervals there are on the y-axis of graphs or are less familiar with graphs and so find it more challenging.
Encourage pupils to focus on the gaps between each gridline as opposed to the number of gridlines there are themselves. You could generalise that there is always one fewer gridline than the number of gaps.
