Key learning points
- If 1m = 100cm then 3m = 3 x 100cm = 300cm
- If 100cm = 1m then 500cm = 5 x 100cm = 5m
Common misconception
Some pupils may need support with the decimal representation of measures and how to convert from larger units to smaller e.g. 1.2 l into ml.
Allow pupils to go back to previous work completed where necessary to see the units of measure divided up into 2, 4, 5 and 10 parts and represented with decimals, to provide a scaffold for them to use whilst completing the problems in this lesson.
