Key learning points

The SSC [cua] is pronounced as in the word 'cuatro', [cue] as in 'escuela' and [cui] as in 'cuidar'.
To talk about future plans we use the verb 'ir' + a + infinitive, e.g. 'voy/vas/va a estudiar'.
The verb 'ir' is often followed by 'al' or 'a la'. We use 'al' with masculine nouns and 'a la' with feminine nouns.

Common misconception

The verb 'ir' is a regular verb so I can apply the regular conjugation rules for -ir verbs.

The verb 'ir' is irregular, therefore, it does not follow the normal conjugation rules. To say 'I go' we say 'voy', 'you go' - 'vas' and 'she, he, it goes' - 'va'.
