A haiku is a short poem of just three lines.
Each line of the poem starts on a new line and with a capital letter.
After forming a capital letter, you need to lift your pencil to start the next part of the word.
Each letter string contains different letter joins depending on which letters are in the word.
You don't lift your pencil when forming the joins.

Children may forget to lift their pencil after forming the capital letter.

Model and emphasise to the children that the capital letters do not join (hold hands) with any other letters. They like to stand alone.
